Bigbury car park update from SHDC

parking

From Monday, Bigbury on Sea car park and toilets, leased by us since 1997, will change hands over to a new operator, RCP Parking Ltd.

You won’t see any interruptions in service and RCP are an experienced, family run business who have been operating car parks since 1994.

We have to run our services sensibly, in a way which is cost effective. We use public funds for these services and that is why we have reached this decision.

Absolute daylight robbery from RCP parking. We parked our car on 26th July. Paid via mobile with great difficulty, internet kept dropping. Had to load paybyphone and to do so had to clear lots of photos and apps off my phone. Have proof of payment on my bank statement but RCP will not accept that, insisting in a receipt from paybyphone which I don’t have because I didn’t want to register my details. Did not see a machine where I could tap my card, was parked by tge large board with a QR code, nowhere on there did I see that you could pay by any other method other than paybyphone or calling the number. I paid though as can be seen on my bank account so don’t see why I should have to pay £60!!!! Disgusting!!!! We are a young family with 3 children from the Midlands, really enjoyed our day out near Burgh Island but this has made us think twice about ever visiting again!

Incredibly sad that parking is no longer free in the evenings. I can live with a higher hourly fee to park but 24/7 is wrong.

I am very concerned about RCP Parking at Bigbury on Sea.

I tried to pay by QR code as instructed but couldn’t .

There were other people on the same day who were having difficulty.
There is a lot of publicity about.
I spent about 24 minutes trying to to pay but left without paying in the end.

Now RCP have sent me a letter demanding £100 or 60 if I pay early..

I have appealed against this as I was unable to pay by electronic means.

This is disgraceful treatment of visitors to the beach.

It’s going to affect businesses dependent on the tourist trade because it puts visitors off going to this site
