October 2nd marked the start of Bigbury’s own pothole repair programme to fix all those annoying holes that do not fit the strict criteria of DCC’s pothole repair system. We now have two trained parish ‘Lengthsmen’ (equipped to work around traffic), a compactor machine (to complete patching more effectively), a supply of tarmac (available on request from DCC) and adequate parish funds set aside to commence work. Our two members of DCC’s Road Warden scheme, Stuart Marshall and Andrew Fish, will steadily work through the potholes on the parish’s minor roads to fix the holes of which Bigbury Parish Council has been made aware. Please note: additional volunteers will always be welcome to help direct traffic, erect signs, etc. and we’ll try to give adequate notice of where and when repairs will be carried out.
At recent PC meetings, we have announced the compilation of a Parish Pothole Register , the idea being to eventually fix all the holes on our minor roads ourselves. If you have a ‘favourite’ pothole, which does not fit DCC’s criteria for mending, please let Ian Bramble – our Parish Clerk – know where it is and provide a photograph if possible. Ian’s contact details are :- clerk.bigburypc@gmail.com
